Mobile Virgin holiday car hire

Have seen a virgin holiday at a good price inc flights accom and car hire
The car hire includes
Please note for USA/Canada car rental:

Basic liability cover is included. It offers third party protection to the state minimum which ranges from $0 - $30,000 per accident, dependant on state. This covers you for damage to a third party's car in the event of an accident, but not your own hire car - you'll need extra insurance for this . For peace of mind, you can sort this out before you travel. Check out our exclusive Virgin Holidays packages - Fully Inclusive and Gold Plus - which also include all compulsory taxes and charges which would be payable locally if the Basic insurance package is selected.
For £368 I can select to upgrade the insurance to include cdw

If I buy a separate policy excess from a third party would it cover me for all additional out of pocket costs
Am I better just getting my car via Alamo brits for £258 all in

Yes
Or look around at other renters I got the best deal with auto Europe on a Alamo rental . If you book an Alamo car also complete the online checkin and select skip the counter option . It will get you on the road far quicker without the sales pitch from the local Alamo representatives .

Agree with last post. Also price up accommodation and flights separately just to make sure you can't do it cheaper yourself.
I was looking for car hire for our September trip yesterday and found alamobrits cheapest, although virgin cheaper for our January one.

Mike. As you have discovered the Virgin deal is very poor. However their car hire only prices are normally great.

You mention the word excess. There is no excess to pay with a UK bought package or straight hire. If you did go for a DIY Policy it's not excess you are looking for but a whole Policy

In my view ditch the car bit and go DIY

I'm with Tom.

It is not an excess policy you need, as there is no excess on hire car insurance in FL .
You need a full rental car policy, and be sure to read and understand the t&c s and how the policy operates.

A couple issues to think about
Some policies you have to pay for all the damage yourself and claim back.
Will Alamo just issue you with another car if your rental one is damaged and unable to be driven?

But it each to their own choice on this. Personally I go for the car hire company's insurance, as I want a no worry holiday.

Mike. Worth a shot but I'm sure if you ring Virgin and cancel the car they refund you a bit of money. I have no experience of this but I'm sure others have done it and posted on here.
Nothing lost and everything to be gained.
