DAS Help Please - For my mum
Hi everyone,
We’re due to travel in about 5 weeks and we’re taking my parents with us for the first time. My mum has finally confessed to me tonight that she’s terribly worried she’s going to ‘ruin everyone’s holiday’. Which she won’t - not by any stretch - but I’m wondering if Disney would be able to make accommodations for her condition that might make life a little easier and a little less painful for her in the parks. About 5 years ago, 2 of the discs in her back burst (for want of a better phrase) and the jelly inside them that acts as the shock absorber dissipated. She has surgery to fuse 2 of the discs but the specialist confirmed a degenerative condition that would continue to impact her for the long term. As a result, she can’t really sit or stand comfortably for extended periods of time. She’s generally fine walking as the movement eases a lot of the pressure - but when she’s still (either stood or seated) for 20-30 mins or more, she experiences chronic pain in her back, shooting pains in her legs and numbness. It causes her a lot of anxiety and fatigues her quite quickly, as does the medication. I’m not convinced a wheelchair would help her as she really needs the flexibility to move around rather than be fixed - but I’m not sure if Disney would class her problem as strictly a mobility issue and rule her out of a DAS pass? I can but help her ask I suppose - but wondered if anyone had any experience? |

Regular mobility issues are not usually eligible for DAS, but it doesn't sound like your Mum is a simple 'rent a wheelchair' case. Try and do the online chat and explain to the CM just like you've posted here.

Thank you so much. They’re visiting for the Easter break so I’ll help her with the call while she’s here. We can but try!

You'll need a VPN, the link to the DAS page (only works with VPN switched on and location set to USA) and your Mum for the photo part. You can offer all the other information on her behalf. If you are successful be ready to continue the chat and choose two rides a day to pre book.
