What if you are a late riser?
Hello,
Some of this question might be obvious but I've just booked a Christmas holiday so I'm trying to get my head around Genie+, last visited WDW in 2017... I am planning on staying offsite for a few days and renting DVC points for a couple of days (over Christmas).. just thinking about how to make Genie+ for me. I don't have kids and I prefer to go to the parks later in the eve, stay out and go to the resorts for dinner/drinks. My mornings are usually spent by the pool before heading to the parks. I'm a bit confused about how Genie+ will work for me if I am going to be staying offsite (first offsite trip in years, didn't think it was worth staying onsite anymore) e.g. if I want a LL for Rise of the Resistance- do I HAVE to be in the park when I make the reservation? And do I HAVE to be up at 7am to try and do this? I'm rather confused. Any help in advance greatly appreciated! Alternatively, is there much point in me getting Genie+ if I plan on going to the parks later? |

You don’t have to be in the WDW parks to make lightening lane bookings.
If you are offsite, you won’t be able to make the paid for bookings (such as for Rise) at 7am anyway, you won’t be able to do it until park opening. When you are onsite, yes you are going to want to try at 7am, it might pop back later, but your best chance is to try at 7am. This isn’t the case for the other paid for rides, they don’t go as quickly as Rise. Although you are going at Christmas so obviously a busy time and they are likely to go quicker.

Thank you! And do I have any control over the time please? Or do I have to select what is given to me?

For the paid for rides, you can choose a time slot from what is available, although with Rise of the Resistance, I would expect a lot of slots will go straight away and availability will be limited.
The other thing to be careful of is that it can change as you are booking it. I was booking 7DMT a couple of weeks ago, I had selected a particular time, can’t remember what, maybe 3 or 4pm, but only when it finalised the booking, was I informed my time had changed to 9pm!
