We are off to Coniston for easter and wondering if any 'must do' there is me, hubby and 11 yr old son (its his birthday while there). Looking at steam gondula is North or South better?
Any close by pizza restaurants?

Check out brockhole - Windermere. Lots of activities for kids. My two had some lovely days there.

Walk up the ‘Old Man’. It’s quite a hike but a very good thing to do.

Grizedale Forrest, lovely walks & there's a Go Ape there if you like zip lines, the little gingerbread shop in Grasmere, Bowness Windemere is a gorgeous little town on the lake, you can get boats out (gets extremely busy though for parking) Keswick is lovely, we love to walk round Derwent Water from there, it's mostly flat & very scenic. Enjoy, we love the lakes !

Get the launch over to Brantwood and have lunch on the terrace with fantastic views. Can be useful to book to avoid queuing.

You could try the Keswick pencil museum. You get a pencil along with your ticket (yes it is just about pencils, including a very big one).

It is often wet when we visit the lakes...

We always visit the famous Gingerbread shop in Grasmere. Absolutely delicious! And a lovely little village. William Wordsworth Daffodil garden is next to it
Also, Hill Top House (Beatrix Potter’s house).

The launch goes from the Coniston slipway next to the Bluebird cafe, I think you can pay on the boat or if not there is a nearby ticket kiosk. The boat stops at various places as a round trip but you can get off and back on later. The jetty at Brantwood is just a short walk through a garden. To book for lunch go to the website brantwood.uk It’s a lovely place
