Monterey / Carmel Recommendations

Hello!

I’ve been to Monterey a couple of times already but only as a whistle stop down the 101. I was originally planned for one night in September but after watching the new Obama/National Parks documentary on Netflix I dropped a day in LA and went for an additional in Monterey!

So far I’ve booked the Discovery Whale Watching tour that seems to have good reviews but can I get any other recommendations please? I’ve only mooched around the beach before, lovers point etc so this time will be a better explore

We stayed for 4 nights a few years ago up in Quail Lodge.
We did whale watching as well which was the highlight of the trip. We got to follow a pod of orca, was amazing.
The aquarium is absolutely fantastic. We spent half a day in here. You could probably spend longer but we don’t really hang about.
Down at fisherman’s wharf is also worth going. We had a couple of brilliant meals down here. And watching the sea is so beautiful.
We just wandered down the street in Carmel, when we get back I would take more time there.
We also did the drive around pebble beach and went in for a look.
Dh played a few rounds of golf as well which took up some time.

Hi love it there. You could have drinks or meal at pebble beach over looking the course and sea. Great even for non golfers. Some of the other hotels along that part of the coast are great for a quiet drink at the outside fire pits at night. The inn at Spanish bay

Another vote for 17 mile drive. Fantastic photo opportunities with lots of stopping points to take in the views. Have a fantastic trip!
