Eastham Woods (Wirral)
Although I have lived in Wirral for over three quarters of a century (gosh!), I had never been to this area before, in fact I didn’t know it existed, until a friend and I went there last week on a sunny bright day. We had a lovely walk about, saw the River Mersey and planes bound for and taking off from Liverpool airport. All followed by a lovely lunch at a nearby tearoom. I liked it all so much the family went today, not as warm as last week (no sunshine) but still most enjoyable. We ate at a different place (tearoom was full) and all had a cheeseburger each and a one portion of chips between four people for lunch, Diet Coke (2), one tea and one coffee all for the princely sum of £22. Very good value as it was excellent. Then we all went for a walk through the woods, DS and DGS throwing a rugby ball and then a frisbee around a playing field for 30 mins. Then back to the car and home. Altogether a very good way to spend a few hours on a bank holiday weekend.

Sounds like a fab day 😍 I grew up on The Wirral and spent loads of time at Eastham Ferry and Eastham Woods as a kid.
We occaisionally go there when we are back up North visiting my family! Lots of childhood memories for me around there 😀 Vicki x

Just up the road from me so we go there a lot. Funny I went with a friend from Burton the other week who also had never been there before.

We used to take our two children there back in the 80's. It was usually during cold winter weekends when we'd wrap up warm, take a flask of Heinz tomato soup and just enjoy the moment. There was always a visit to the "bear pit", no idea where the name came from. Happy days

It was a bear pit in Victorian days, there was also a pier for a ferry from Liverpool for the day trippers, there is a stand in the woods with old photo’s and info.

Hi, thank you for confirming the bear pit, I remember that there had been a ferry. I'll do a search online and see if the photos are there.
