We were definitely team Rahul in our house.
DS only watches it in passing and I’ve only watched it properly since the move to ch4 (I couldn’t stand Mel and Sue) but DW has been a big fan since day 1. Agree for a final it was a little disappointing but SO pleased Kim Joy didn’t win. Every bloody bake, every bloody week, oh it’s something with animals on, AGAIN. Might have looked pretty and I’m happy to acknowledge her ability to do intricate decorations but 100% a one trick pony ideas wise. Rahul might have seemed a bit miserable at times but think he is just chronically short of self confidence. We all think he seems a lovely humble guy and the first half of the competition he was so far ahead it was a one horse race for about 6 weeks. Ps I know it’s shallow and shouldn’t make a difference but it also bugged the hell out of me that Kim Joy always looked like her make up had been applied by a 4 year old. Edited at 03:11 PM. |

I think I prefer Sandi and Neil to Mel and Sue, I never really liked them. I like Mary Berry and Prue Leith, no particular preference.
But I think C4 has done something to spoil the output, over challenging in either the requirements or the time allowed. If you look at an earlier BBC version you would see some amazing bakes, the quality in the final of this series is below round one in previous series. |

I think the last bake that was supposed to be fantastic and amazing was rubbish, it might taste good but they all looked awful. I loved it when the made baskets of food and then everyone got to try some afterwards. Channel 4 need to up their game, I like Noel Fielding and he makes the show so funny but the standard this year was not up to scratch.

Totally disappointing final. The pitta breads outside 😬It's not the Great British camp fire. The final task was hideous. Like others I can remember some beautiful cakes in the past. Trouble is now they've baked nearly every cake biscuit bread show stopper. What is there left to bake? Rahul's dead pan answers made me giggle. Ruby will end up with a tv deal and Kim joy will make whimsical biscuits somewhere.
