We stayed on Lombard Street which is a great location - you can walk to Chinatown or Fisherman's Wharf or use public transport. We stayed at the Cow Hollow Motor Inn which was around £100 a night and has free parking. We booked direct with the hotel.

Thank you everyone for the replies.
I have been looking and I think the Lombard Street, Marina District is going to be best for our plans. Funny enough CrispyA I found the Cow Hollow Inn & it's sister properties to be ideal for us. I'm just waiting for them to release the dates/prices.

The Baldwin Hotel wanted $35 for self parking or $45 for valet per day/night. It all adds up.

Hi, I booked directly through the hotel that way it was on a flexible rate and I kept looking if anything better came up (if never did)

I stayed at the Best western Tuscan in FW- good location and a great hotel. Rooms were a little small, but the prices seemed a lot less than other hotels in the area. Great thing was the Dollar car hire place is straight across the road in the Sheraton.

I've booked the Buena Vista Motor Inn on Lombard Street in June. Seems to have a good location and reviews with free parking. £449 for 4 nights with Expedia via Quidco for cashback.
We're in San Francisco at the end of our trip and will give the car back after 2 days there as we want to do the coastline we missed before on the day after we arrive there. Parking seems so expensive so thought this was a good option. Anyone stayed there?
