Sinus wash!

Hi always had trouble with my sinuses...
Thinking about using a sinuse wash... Anybody used one?
If so did it work?
Which one did you get?
How easy was it to use?
Thanks in advance'

Hi
My husband uses Neilmed sinus wash and it's the best thing he has tried after using lots of sprays, medications and being in constant pain, he only has to use it once a day. I order through Amazon, you buy a kit with the spray bottle and then you just have to buy the sachets after, the bottle needs replacing every so often.
Hope this helps

Hubby was advised by the head specialist in the nose & throat dept of our local hospital to buy bicarbonate of soda, use half a level teaspoon of that & a level teaspoon of salt to a pint of warm water & stir it through, this solution lasts for a week, what's left throw out & start again. You can buy syringes in boots the chemist and use it that way to squirt up both nostrils & it clears blocked sinus instantly.
Cheaper too.

O my we used the bicarbonate of soda solution when I trained as a nurse when Dinasors ruled the earth it worked had no drugs in it but keep unused solution in a bottle that's been through the dish washer or a micro wave steriliser I sympathise with him it's a terrible pain and can cause pain in the shoulders / neck / ears and really runny sore eyes too hope he finds what's best for him one mans poison and all that

Interested to see replies on this. I have bad sinus problems but for some reason I am scared of these washes! Do they hurt or feel weird to use?

My DH also uses the NeilMed Sinugator bought in Florida, along with the sachets, at a much reduced cost compared to here. He finds it very effective but I can't bear to watch.

cant recommend it enough!

i started out with a neti pot (cheap one off ebay) and salt solution, but moved over to the neilmed squirty bottle (you can get them in a lot of chemists in the uk now too) when i saw it in the US several years ago

make sure you boil the water before you use (then let it cool) to kill off nasties. dont just use warm tap water. and it stings like hell if you dont put salt (or the neilmed sachets) in the water. also, dont use table salt! its full of chemicals

before i discovered it, it would take me over a week to get over a bad cold, but now i can be functional and back at work within a couple of days. sinus infections have reduced massively too

when i need it, ill be doing it twice a day every day, but most of the time i'll just do one every week or so just to keep things cleared out. its the weirdest sensation EVER at first, but you quickly get used to doing it

hth

This is what OH uses and works for him. He's had sinus problems and various surgeries and this really helps
