You just need a pen in America it seems. Chip & Pin quite rare over there.

We are just back from Las Vegas and I was amazed that they have started to use chip and pin. It's clearly very new over there because the assistants explained what I needed to do every time!
First time I've ever seen it used? Unusual to find something that the U.S. Is following us with ! Jo |

So far it's only been Walmart for a pin, everything else has been a signature.

Was quite amusing when we were in Walmart in 2014. I think chip and pin had only just been introduced then.
One person was on the phone to his other half trying all combinations of pin numbers and eventually having to leave the shop after being locked out of the transaction. No one seemed to be able to remember pin numbers out there. |

We were over in Orlando last month. A lot of stores used the chip, but needed you to sign if it was over the floor limit. A couple of them required the PIN to be entered. So it is becoming more common.

Chip and Pin came in while we were there last October. It's not like the UK though, shops seem to be allowed to opt in if they want, it's not compulsory. The only shop we found it in was Pandora at Florida Mall.

as of a week ago Disney just swiped the card, no PIN, no id, no signature!
Walmart and sometimes Wynn Dixie were only ones who used PIN while we were there. Had trouble using cash card in restaurant, taken a week to sort it out when we got back. |
