Thank you for all your replies. I have phoned the police they have been fantastic and are going to visit dad, put posters up and give him some door and window alarms. I have asked his neighbours to keep an eye out but both sides are usually out all day. I have ordered a dummy CCTV camera for now with a view to either really CCTV or door intercom.
I just hope that the scumbag keeps away, I hate the thought of dad being bullied :angry:

Here's a link to some 'no cold caller' signs, I used one a while back and it did stop lots of them.

glad you reported it , hes a scumbag preying on the elderly he needs stopping, i worry about my mum shes 83 also, we are always telling her not to open the door , but sometimes she forgets bless her, its a horrid situation hope your dear dad is ok

A bit of good news. I have just had an email from our local police that they have arrested 3 men for exactly this type of thing. The police definitely do take this type of fraud and intimidation seriously.
