I always buy petrol at Tesco and pay with my American Express credit card on which I get BA Avios points. The points I get on my Tesco loyalty card are automatically converted to BA Avios points.
These points plus what I get for flights give me enough points for a couple of hundred £££ off my next flight, or book my airport hotel or attraction tickets through BA. I travel solo so a companion seat is no good for me. This might not be the best way to spend the points but it works for me. |

We have saved ours and just used them towards an overnight stay at Hard Rock Hotel, Universal next month during our trip.

I've used them for several days and for Merlin passes in the past. I've just used them to pay for our Disneyland Paris hotel for June!

To all the responses from people who use them for hotel rooms. Is this something that involves a lot of spending and saving them for a long time?

It’s 3x whatever you have. So we collect points through food shopping and fuel. We’ve just had a voucher through for £15, which is actually £45 through Clubcard. So you can use that as £45 off, or build it so it’s more .
Some places have limits anyway, hoseasons only let you change up £30 worth of vouchers which will take £90 off your stay . We used that towards our minimoon for next year

This year used mine for the Isle of Wight ferry. I will then save the rest for Christmas shopping. When the girls were younger we saved lots of money on days out. I have noticed not as many places take them now though for days out as there used to be.

So far this year, the delivery saver, Friends and family railcard (for our train journey to Gatwick), and English Heritage for the family. I used to save them up for Christmas, when they could be doubled up on toys.

Also many places won’t let you exchange them on anything but the full price- so if a hotel has a half price sale you’d wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the sale prices and exchange your vouchers-so always check it makes sense.
I recently exchanged £640 to pay for a ferry to Ireland and back. Paying cash I would have paid £480. Now for me paying the entire amount in vouchers it asnt a problem but if I had only £100 in vouchers to put towards the ferry it would have cost me more in cash than if I didn’t have the vouchers. |
