I leave the door and tray open. I also run a 90 deg wash with soda crystals once a month.

I was going to ask this very same question. I cleaned my machine out yesterday with white vinegar and baking soda on a 90 degree wash but ever since doing it there is the vilest smell coming from it. I also deep cleaned the tray and the filter. I’ve run 6 more washes since and it still smells like sewerage! Thankfully the smell on the clothes disappears once they’re dry

Mine sometimes smells of garlic! Very strange. But I run through an empty load of daz powder on a 2 hour hot wash and that seems to help.

I’ve started using Zoflora in my washing machine (thanks megaflyer) and my washing smells lovely. I use a Surf pod, method softener, Lenor unstoppables and a cap of zoflora

The best tips I got from here a few years ago was to leave the door open and not to use liquid. When we got a new machine we did this and have never had a smell. Used liquid in the old one and it smelled and the seal on the door was yucky.

I do a boil wash once a week using powder, never seem to have a problem. Not that it's a boil wash really these days!

I think most if not all machines need a cleaning run after a certain number of washes. On mine I have to press buttons in a certain way for the cycle to start
