Different layout to what I was envisioning. I assumed you'd be near the very back.
We sat in middle seats right next to the toilets, the noise of the toilet door opening and closing was more annoying than the smell.

Ahhhh of course, there’s that too. Wondering if I should pull them forward a few rows 🤔

Eugh, looking at SeatMaestro, Im gutted they have put a 332 on the MAN-ATL route. a lot of complaints about the seats not being too comfy.. im 5ft9 so legroom has never really been an issue with me.

I’m a bit of an aviation geek at times, I love researching and booking the absolute right seat!

Rather than seek the best seat I seek to avoid the things that are most likely to annoy me. Lets face it the gains of the "best seat" are usually marginal at best, sometimes come at a cost, and are subject to the randomness of who gets allocated seats near you.

Firstly I try to fit my party size. Having to get up and down to accommodate strangers toilet habits, or having to disrupt others to go yourself, along with sharing armrests with strangers are the things most likely to disrupt my flight experience, so they are my first things to avoid. When we were a party of 3, I always looked for 3's, on the Virgin 747's, you'd a lot of choice. The first row of 3 at the back of the A330's being a very good set of 3 as they offered "sideways legroom". After that if I can sit on a back row, I will as I can then guilt free recline. I actually prefer the right hand side over the left, on the left the sun is too bright/hot for the majority of the flight to have the shade up, and I like to look out. I can do this on the right. I also find that the right hand aisle will empty faster than the left, as people in the middle get out to the left thinking it's faster because the door is on that side. Finally nearer the front if all else is equal.

Above all though, I pick seats to my party size, even if this means we're near the back, 9 hours next to the wrong person is worth trading for 10 more minutes in immigration.

A few seat reviews on this website.

theflight.info/seat-map-airb...eats-in-plane/

Also found this review.

The A330’s have the benefit of having a 2x4x2 layout in Economy, which means if you can bag an A/C or H/K seat then you either get window or aisle, no middle seat which is good. The layout on the -300 aircraft is different to the -200, with Economy Delight rows starting at 49 for the centre and 51 for the outer rows. Personally, I’ll always take the A/C or H/K seats, but there is only one row in the centre, which is row 49 – the bulkhead row. The downside to the bulkhead is that the tray tables are in the arm rests, resulting in narrower seats.

One of the big benefits of the Economy Delight cabin on the A330-300, is that it is towards the middle of the plane, meaning you’re quite far from the bassinet positions, meaning less chance of a crying child in the vicinity of your seat.

Best seats for sleep – 51A/C

Best seats for couples – Any A/C or H/K combo

Best seats for a quick exit – 51C

Thanks all 😊 I’ve left them where they are just now. Thankful that we’re on the plane and in 2s . Semi close to the front.
Where do you enter the plane? Do you walk through upper? 😬

Keep an eye on the seats you've booked. Many a time have we booked a flight and chosen seats well in advance, only to have a plane change without being told.
