charter travel HELP
Hi made a booking on sat with charter travel , paid the deposit and he sent me the documents online ect .. now he's sent me more on the same documents except i noticed on paragraph different this...
Above booking is an advance registration Flight seats are confirmed approximately 290 days before departure. Accommodation and car rental are confirmed instantly. In the event of a price change at the point of seats loading in the system, we will call and discuss your options with you and a suitable alternative will always be offered. If this does not suit your requirements then a full refund of the deposits paid will be given immediately so i asked does this mean i will have to pay more money if the flight prices goes up before we go he said yes, that's correct and if you would like a refund on the deposit then let me know asap !? we only go in 2018 , of course the price will go up , why do we have to pay more if we have agreed on a price now bit worried about the sudden change in attitude from him tbh help ...

That doesn't seem right. You agree a price at the time of booking. Did he say that the flights were based on estimates. I've never used charter travel but it seems weird to me

I think when you book so far in advance they estimate the flight costs prior to them being released. They obviously know what the increase has been each year and are usually pretty accurate but I guess they need to cover themselves in case it shoots up for whatever reason.
We've booked through them several times now and I think there has only been one occasion when the price increased. They gave us the option to pay the extra, change hotel so that we could stay within the original price or a full refund. It was only a small amount but as our circumstances had changed we decided to cancel and received a full refund of our deposit, which they did without any questions. This year we booked indirect flights because of budget but when the flights were released they managed to get us direct flights for just a bit extra so we jumped at the chance. In my experience I have always been very happy with Charter.

it does seem weird, they have just got your money it sounds like they cant book the seats until 290 days and you know the price will be more,i would get my money back , i think they will have covered themselves in their terms and conditions somewhere , especially since they have sent you an email telling you about it, its giving you the option to back out i fear if you dont take it, you may regret it take the money and book elsewhere

This is normal practice. I had this explained to me by Charter Travel when I booked with them back in 2009. I was told that if the price went up it would only be by a little, though in my case it ended up being £100's (though I'm sure this is not common). As they have said you can get a refund if you don't want to pay any extra.
I always book flights myself now, usually a BA fly drive, so that I know exactly what I have to pay. |

Yes, this happens when you pre book flights. We booked with them in 2013 for our 2014 trip. They estimated the flight cost and as you say, they explained our options if the price increased. Our price stayed the same and was cheaper than if we had waited and booked direct with Virgin when flights were released.

We booked our holiday through Charter in 2015 for our hols last October. We weren't charged anymore for flights even though we flew virgin and their dates weren't released for 6 months from booking. I asked Sean about the chance of a price increase but he said they would honor the package price. I believe they factor in the price increase when booking plus they have years of experience and like most businesses are better working together with airlines as its mutually beneficial to do so. They have to add this kind of info to the T&Cs as that's regular business practice. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen sometimes and must be very annoying when it does but I suppose on occasion things can change for verious reasons but I'm sure they wouldn't increase prices if they can help it as that would be bad for their business and their reputation... Especially on the Dibb
I plan on getting a quote for our holiday in 2018 from Charter as last time I found them very competitive and answerd any queries I had quickly and efficiently. Kat

We used Charter twice in 2011 & 2014. First time no change, 2nd time small change (small increase) Both times because Andy buys the seats at stupid o'clock, when I believe us public can't we paid a lot less than if we'd done it direct with Virgin.
I believe if you buy a package you can get the price fixed. OP Please don't let this put you off, we were very happy with the price & service we got from Charter & happily recommended them to several friends - who also used & were very happy. |

We used Charter in 2012, 14 and 16. 2012 flights where booked with Virgin and stayed the same, 2014 flights where with United and went up £60 on estimate, but still half of Virgins price by flying indirect, then last yr we waited till January, priced dropped so rang Charter and got them to book for me and add to our booking. Just waiting for this years prices to drop at the minute. Next year we may pre register again just to take the worry out of the process.

Standard for pre-registrations. The Airline haven't released the seats or fares yet so the tour operators/agents have to base fares on their best guesstimate. They are normally quite accurate but have to cover themselves in the event fares go up a lot. If when they get the fare your not happy then they should give you a full refund.
