You can get silicone covers for the glass milk bottles. They are called moopops and you can get them from Amazon.

We've had same milkman for 25yrs, a lifesaver when children were small. Used to have him when I was a kid too, always had raw milk then and I've noticed that's making a come back in a few farm shops. Far better having glass bottles than all the plastic that is produced

I have a certain romantic attachment to having a milkman because, like many folk of my age I'm guessing, we had one when I was a child.

The significant difference is it feels like I saw John (for that was his name) regularly whereas I've never seen my current milkman. I have no idea what time he delivers, but I've never never him either!

We don’t use one, but I saw one in the next village along The other day, and I think there’s a road near us that uses one. I was really surprised to see him though - haven’t seen one for years!

Not sure if he’s round regularly, as we use too much milk, but I was woken up by a milkman the other week (somewhere around 5amish) we use a milk and more milkman at work though, always there, really easy to adjust the order

We’ve always had a milkman. I don’t like the taste of milk from a plastic bottle. He delivers lots of basics if you want them so we have a milk safe and a bread box at the front door. He delivers around 3:30am and is usually in shorts most of the year - Security cameras record him.

The milkman who delivers to our street (not for myself) has a huge van type vehicle. It has a Diesel engine and sounds like a tank. He delivers three times a week and comes between 11pm to 12pm driving like sterling moss. Not half makes a racket. Seems like a long time to leave milk out too.

Edit: forgot to say when I moved in he came round to ask if we wanted milk delivered, we said we were OK thanks, he then proceeded to tell us off for not supporting local workers, the cheeky thing. With an attitude like that I would rather have black tea and dry cereal

My father in law was a milk man, retired now but my husband grew up helping him to collect money and also deliver the milk during holidays.
My uncle is still a milk man, rounds are certainly different now than they used to be. He delivers milk, fresh orange juice, eggs & yogurt.
He did say the last couple of years have picked up because it was rather desperate at one point due to supermarkets. But with people now wanting more quality, fresh products in environmentally friendly packaging its making a come back! 🤩
