Migraine ! What do you use ?

I'm 43 and have had my third migraine over a period of about 12 months which I don't feel is a huge amount !
I have everything but the flashing lights. I have taken a cheap generic Ibuprofen but this has never really helped. What have you used from over the counter that works ?

This may sound strange but when I get a migraine the only thing that helps is 4-5 bars of chocolate in a row followed by a lie down in a dark room.

I take two over the counter co-coda mol and two neurofen plus as soon as it starts and if I take them quick enough it stops it. I'm not sure whether a pharmacist would recommend this though as both medications can be addictive. I don't take them unless I know it's gonna be a full blown migraine and I'm sure I won't need to drive for a few hours xx good luck migraines are just awful.

Wish that worked for me
Doctor had prescribed me
zomig nasal
As tablets no good due to sickness

Also hit it with paracetamol and ibuprofen as soon as it starts
Normally need to sleep in darkened room and then feel wiped out for 24+ hours after

Migraleve pink, and lying down in a quiet dark room as soon as possible, also strangely being sick and going to the loo (sorry tmi) sometimes helps.
I get the auras first so as long as i take the tabs as soon as i see it start it's normally over quickly.

Another vote for sumatriptan, but I believe you can get this from a chemist under the brand name Immigran, but you need to see the pharmacist to get it. I have suffered migraines since becoming a teenager, and these pills are marvellous.

For the start of a Migraine I will have 2 solpadeine fizzy tablets and that sometimes works, if not then I have the injection form of Sumatriptan which always works, but makes me fall asleep within seconds of taking it so I can only take it when im at home.
