TSA Bag Search

Hi

Just wondering how many dibbers have had a little note left in their checked bags to say it's been searched by TSA? Mine has been checked twice. First time totally expected as we bought a Minnie kettle ! And a pirates scull packed with 'treasure' 😜. The latest time has me baffled!

I know all the bumf says it's random but everything you read suggests checks are based on bag ex rays and something looking slightly strange! Ok a minion unicorn is a bit weird for a 48 yr old woman but it's not that bad

Has this happened to anyone else and any tips To help my bags sail through in the future ?

One of ours was searched. We brought home a lot of the complimentary coffee pods you get in your Disney room. Don't know if that was why. I think coffee can be used to mask smell of other things you shouldn't bring in your luggage, so maybe one of the dogs decided they should take a closer look. The case with the coffee was the only one that was opened.

One of ours was searched last year, nothing that might have looked dodgy as unfortunately it was the one with all the dirty washing in. Think it's just random.

We always get checked, we bring back plastic bottles of salad dressings! I think anything that looks like food or a lot of liquid gets checked.

We often get checked too. Esp when we take Yankee candles home. They always unwrap them from the paper they're in! We also tend to bring food items back too.

Mine has been searched coming back from the US but I do take lots of gadgets and chargers so kind of explains the check as all those wires and funny little boxes with circuit boards in will stand out.

Incidentally I also had my airline carrier luggage tag fall off after checking in the bags. Luckily my DW had put some hard tags on with my name and flight number on so security could find me. Slightly embarrassing but one of those things.

Ours are opened every time for a similar reason. We always bring back Hershey chocolate sauce for DD1 and that's in a plastic bottle with a semi-liquid contents

We have been checked a few times. The first time we had been at a villa and bought a small remote controlled boat to play with in our pool. Then second time we had a whole case filled with baking stuff and car polish items.

Ours were searched for the first time last year in 5 visits, but we did have cans of mountain dew, that I had wrapped with towels end to end, so thick metal pole in the middle of the case, hardly surprising really
