Priceline?
Hi
Dd and I are off to NYC in August and just wondered whether to try Priceline? I went with dh last year and got a great deal on Hotwire but nothing quite as good out there this year ( yet! ) Has anyone tried Priceline, how did you find the experience and were you please with your hotel and deal ? Thanks Jo |

I've been using Priceline for getting on 15 years and have never been disappointed with a hotel. I try to work out what I'll get before bidding and start low so I get the cheapest price. I've used it 3 times in New York and have stayed at the Marriott Eastside, Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental and last time got the Clubquarters by Ground Zero for $75 a night. The express deals are good too, sometimes they seem to be different inventory to name your own price so I use both.

Wow that's a great price. Given that you can specify your area and star rating I think you can be sure which hotel within a group of hotels where as on Hotwire you can almost pin down to to a specific hotel - or have I mis understood?
To get that sort of deal did you wait until near the time? Thanks for your help I might give it a whirl ! Jo |

You can narrow right down on the Express Deals by looking at the customer rating, amenities and original price then comparing it to the list priced hotels. Use the deal price to set a limit on bidding if you try that too. Also have a look on betterbidding to see what people have won recently.
I've used Hotwire a couple of times too but have always found the deals and standard of hotels much better on Priceline. Most of my bookings are made within a few weeks or a month of travelling but I've just booked a night in Dublin for the end of May and am pleased with the price. Good luck with it, just do some research first |
