Anyone done Mario Kart go karting in Tokyo?

I'm really tempted to do this on my next trip, and tips, recommendations etc.?

From the few videos I have seen it rather looks too scarey to me!

Driving in a foreign city, a capital city with the traffic they have, not knowing the signs etc - not for me, am a wuss!

There appears to be different ones covering parts of the city - have a look on YT for recent videos and make your mind up.

We saw a few tours going round last month, they're always guided groups so didn't look too scary... One of the crew had done it on a previous trip and said it was amazing.

It's expensive though - around £90 for 90 minutes, plus the onesie's included and it's 29 degrees there at the minute. Hmmm usual indecision!

We have the option to do this on our tour. I think most fancy it and will probably do it. Me on the other hand might not?! 🙈 May go do something equally wacky like one of those weird maid cafes or something while they get on with that?! 😂

Oh those are weird... We saw all the animal cafes in Take≈≈≈≈a street, but none of us were confident about how ethical they were, people standing around stroking otters / mini pigs etc. in the street just didn't feel right.

No I don’t fancy the animal ones either. I saw one on Jane MacDonald’s lost in Japan which was just human maids no animals involved which looks interesting.

I've see some where some of the dishes 'include' a stare from one of the maids...

I know the locals hate it! Seen several Abroad in Japan videos about it.

James May tried it - his ‘Our Man In Japan’ series is superb if you haven’t seen it.

I only heard of it on Abroad in Japan and it made my mind up that it is not something we would do as it is a menace to other people.

It also isn't "Mario Karts", I am sure he said there had been legal action against whoever ran it for using the name.

I'll have a look for that, thank you. Seen plenty of tours going round last month, especially through Shibuya crossing, not entirely sure why the locals hate it so much, although they do get a lot of attention with people taking photos / vidoes etc. despite being so common.

I may go and get an IDP and make my mind up when there.
