Resort Refillable Mugs During Covid-19

I know that you can still get refillable mugs when staying at a resort and that a cast member will have to refill the beverage of choice (possibly in a paper cup) but how do they know you have purchased a refillable mug?

Do they load it into your magic band or do you have to show your receipt every time you want a refill?

I understand they have a chip in them and when you first buy them the chip is activated for your holiday stay.

I imagine you must have to put your refill mug on a reader of some sort and then they do the paper cup for you.

You would imagine that this would be counterproductive as you would have to carry your refillable mug around with you for nothing as they would give you a paper cup anyway.
Also it would mean that the cast member would be touching your mug which would be a possible cause of cross contamination for both yourself and the cast member ?

The refillable mugs do have a chip in them which is activated when you collect you mug and indicates your check-out date.

If CM’s are passing over paper cups then I’d imagine there is a base reader for you to scan your mug over, which you would do yourself, to show the CM your mug is valid.

What would be easier/simpler is if the CM used for the refillable mugs just wiped down the high touch points at the refill station 🤷🏻
