Super old photos

Hi,

I got my grans photo albums from my uncle yesterday and I’ve been looking through them and starting to scan them. Got lots from the 1900 to the 1970s. Lots from the Isle of Skye and Dornoch.

Here’s two of the oldest ones.

My great grandads grandmother.

And my great grandmas uncle.

Old photos are so fascinating.

It’s cool seeing old photos of people who are related to you and unrelated too. People really come alive that you’ve heard stories of.

Always nice to have photos of the past generations. Isn't it strange that some from circa 100 years ago are in better condition than those from the 70's and 80's when they must have used cheap processing!
I have some of my Grandfather from WW1 that are clearer than those I took in America in 1976

OP are you constructing the family tree to go alongside them?

Yeah I found that a bit surprising, most of them are really clear.

Yeah I am, some parts have been really easy to do, other parts not so much. Luckily my gran had already done lots and has pictures of gravestones and stuff, so that’s been good.

Fabulous photos! I hate having my picture taken but I love old photos. I’ve got the family photos from both sides of my family and am starting to gather information so I can record it for the next generation. It’s just such a shame I didn’t ask more questions when my grandparents were still around. It’s just my mum now and she doesn’t know all the answers. Weirdly though, when I was going through my grandparents address book, I came across the details of someone I’d seen in my professional life a couple of years ago, who was one of their best friends. I wrote to the family and they confirmed all the details and even found pictures of my dad on his second birthday!
