Disney Dining Plan

We are travelling as a party of 8 (two families of four). I read on the Disney Dining Plan that tables of 6 or more are charged an automatic gratuity of 16%. We will be paying as 2 families but want to reserve tables together. Will this extra still be added if we pay separately? Has anyone else had this problem? It's our first time at WDW so just learning the ropes. Thanks

I think you will find it is the normto pay the standard 18%-20% tip on the DP anyhow so you would pay it whether you paid together or apart.

You are expected to tip between 15-20% so tbh it will probably make it a little cheaper!

We were in Rainforest Cafe in Disney Springs last year as a party of 11, but as this was three families we therefore asked for three separate bills, so this avoided any extra charges for a large table. We did tip a standard 15-18% anyway.
