Chef Mickey's or Grand Floridian Cafe
Hi All
I'm having a bit of a re-jig of our final day (in Disney) plans and now plan to do Hollywood Studios first thing then move across to Magic Kingdom for the afternoon. This means my current reservation at Chef Mickey's for breakfast will be out. i'm guessing the easiest way to move between these parks (that's free) is to take a resort bus from HS to one of the MK resorts. So i was thinking we could have lunch in one of the hotels then take the monorail to MK So... Where would you choose to eat? I've narrowed it down to Chef Mickey's and Grand Floridian Cafe based on reviews / menus although i'm less sure about the lunch at Chef Mickey's as most people seem to go for breakfast. I like the idea of our final day having a character meal but if it doesn't happen we will go say bye to Mickey in MK! Does anyone have experience of lunch at Chef Mickey's? We already have a lunch res for earlier in the holiday at GFC - does it warrant a second visit? We're on the DDP so the price isn't a big issue Thanks in advance! |

Why not try Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge and then hop on the boat for the 10 min cruise to MK ?
Great hotel, great theme and great food. Disney332

Thanks for the suggestion - I will maybe take a look at their menu and see if it would suit what we're after!

We at at the GF Cafe last week. Nice venue and the food is very good. My Son says it's the best burger on property. My Wife and I won't touch burgers but the pork and the salmon were excellent.

The Wilderness Lodge is on our list for our next trip as we have never visited WL but we much prefer the GF cafe to Chef Mickey's. We have always enjoyed our meals at the GF 👍

Who is "we"? That is who is in your party?
We are currently at the Contemporary and we did Chef Mickeys one morning and Grand Floridian another. They are not comparable to be honest, they offer a totally different experience. The Grand Floridian breakfast menu was akin to a lunch menu IMHO, whereas he Chef Mickey was a breakfast so I don't really know what their lunch was like. Grand Floridian was head and shoulders above Chef Mickeys for us. But we are a couple in our 40s and we are used to dining in smart, adult places. That is not to say it is the right choice for everyone, hence my opening question. |

Hi, we did both last trip myself, dh and dd (13) and enjoyed both. Totally different experience, Chef Mickey's was a more hectic atmosphere and very loud whereas GFC was a more relaxed, quieter atmosphere. Enjoyed the food at both but if I had to choose GFC would win hands down. Just my personal opinion though.

Have you considered 1900 Park Fare? We prefer the food to Chef Mickey's but it's still a character meal. I'm trying to get Chef Mickey's despite the food though because my toddler is a Mickey Mouse fan so it does depend who is in your party.

Thanks everyone for your input!
Sorry i should have said... We are a party of adults plus a child (7). I like the idea of starting and ending the holiday with a character meal but i'm not hung up on the idea - we can arrange a visit to see Mickey when we get to MK for those final few hours. |

Have been to chef Mickeys for breakfast and lunch / dinner. I would only go back at breakfast time as I really didn't enjoy the lunch / dinner food. I've never been the GFC but I guess they both bring different things. I love the character interaction and chef Mickey but if I'm honest the food isn't breath taking.
