I don't know whether it would work here because of the power supply and plug being different. Also our TVs are PAL and their's aren't so that might be a problem too.

No games bought here would not work on a Wii bought in the US.

You could be correct about that, the TVs in the US work on/as NTSC while they are PAL (not Mickey) over here.

Any techie peeps know the truth?

If you manage to get one (there is a real shortage in US stores at the moment I believe which is why there are so many on ebay) your TV needs to be NTSC compatible but most modern UK TV's are. You'll also need a step down transformer to bring the power down from 240v to 100v.

A couple of things to consider though is that your warranty will be void if anything was to go wrong. You also may have problems if you intend to download games over the internet via the wii online shop as you'll only be able to access the US site and not the European one. I'm not sure this is a problem but you will have to purchase with American Wii points and I'm not sure whether you can purchase these online with a UK credit card. Failing this you can buy points from US retail stores in a similar way to mobile phone top-ups.

With regards games, what has been said is correct that you can't currently play UK Wii games on a US machine although rumours abound that Datel are working on a new version of their freeloader boot disk which currently allows imported game cubes/Wii's to play UK gamecube games and visa-versa.

Cheers,
Loz
