Quick service or Disney dining plan?

Hi, I'm thinking of an onsite stay in May 2019 with free dining plan if it's still offered, what are people's recommendations as to which dining plan to go for, will we have enough food and enough choice with just the quick service or is the full dining plan better, there will be me, DH, DD13 and DD9, and possibly DS19 if he still wants to come.

We've done both plans - ddp twice and qsdp 3 times. They are both good but cater for different needs. We enjoyed the ddp and all the restaurtants we tried, but for us, the qsdp works better as we like more flexibility and we do a few TS meals if we fancy it and pay oop for them. I wasn't very good at getting timings right for when I thought we might be hungry when we had the ddp, so there were times when we weren't hungry but had to go for our reservation and times when we were but out reservation wasn't for a while. That's easier though as we could get a snack to tide us over.

If you want to get an idea if there's enough food and variety on the qsdp, then you might find it helpful to have a read of my qsdp food report that I wrote last month. There are lots of photos and honest opinions of the food that we had: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1013966

One thing is for sure though, on either plan, you definitely have enough food and won't go hungry

No problem If you're thinking of going in May, then you'll be there for the garden festival so will be able to get food from the booths there too. We did that this year and it was great!

A bit similar to loves2plan, we've done both.

DDP we did find very rigid, there was little flexibility in our holiday plans as we knew that some of our ADRs, if we cancelled, we'd be hard pushed to get them again (BOG, CRT etc). We often found ourselves going to eat even if we werent crazy hungry or if we were tired.

You don't have little kids tho so it may suit you to have some nice TS meals, it was certainly a nice break from the parks.

We on the whole prefer the QSDP, there are some fab QS options and when we went in October, some of our favorite meals were QS! (Peco Bills nachos for one!). We also like not having to worry about tips which last year were around $400 on top.

I enjoy a TS meal most days for the relaxing elements and food choice but as I find the DDP such a lot of food I tend to use my QS credit for x3 pieces of fruit or a salad or I find I'm too full to enjoy the TS meal. I think however if you plan there is loads of choice in QS meals but you do need to have looked at menus ahead of time for it not to be all burgers and nuggets as they are the most obvious and abundant choices. There is much more though, especially at Epcot and AK.

Thanks everyone, QSDP is sounding like it might suit us best actually.
