Advice please - I'm getting confused!

We're going back to Orlando in August 2018 with friends - there will be us (2 adults 3 kids 3,11,12) and our friends (2 adults 2 kids 10,12) we're sharing a fab dibb villa and I'm trying to get my head round tickets. We've been previously but it's our friends first and probably only visit. Disney and universal are our must do's and I want to arrange a night at HRH as a surprise for them as they've been THE most incredible friends and have supported us through a lot in recent years.
I keep pricing up various ticket options but I'm getting more and more confused.
In everyone's experience what do you think would be our best option?
14 day Disney tickets (hold out and hope that Disney offer the 25% off deal again)
Direct with universal for HRH - 2 rooms and include 2 day 3 park tickets
14 day combo tickets and add hotel seperatly?
Another option I haven't thought of!

I think the price doesn't vary too much with universal tickets even if you book for fewer days? Pretty sure it's about the same price for 7? I'm no expert though! I've done 14 and 14 day tickets for both before and it worked well.
