golf shops and bringing back clubs with Globespan

Hi

Due to go to Florida in September.

DH is mad keen on golf and is thinking of buying a club/s out there.

I am thinking one - he is thinking an entire set.

Can anyone recommend some good places to shop for clubs?

Also has anyone tried bringing back clubs with Globespan?

I know there is some blurb on the web site about sets of golf clubs/bags and having to book in advance but wasn't sure if that would be the same for a single club in a box.

Or is it just better to get them shipped home?

Any info would be great.

Sorry i have no experience whatsoever, but we saw a few men with golf clubs going in the hold with GS last year (mostly upper class passengers, a couple of doctors etc.)... i THINK they are over and above your luggage allowance, but youd have to pay for it.

We took DS's clubs last year as he was palying at Bay Hill and didn't want 'hired clubs'. We went Thompson and it was £20 extra.

If you are flying schduled then it might be included within your baggage allowance.

Just remember to do your homework first - price up the clubs you want here -then when you see them in the states remember to add tax and - IF THEY ARE OVER THE £145 LIMIT add the extra duty you will be charged coming back into the UK.

you have to book them in advance on their website, and print off the email, think it costs £20 or something tho

my dh (NOT me you understand - wouldn't be caught dead there) loves edwin watts golf shops and quite happily spends 1-2hrs in each one (there are 3), 2 shops on I drive and one on sand lake rd (his fav one). i tend to drop him off and head to some real shops then pick him up later.

Forfarbridie- it depends if he needs specialist advice, custom made clubs etc, then i would recommend Edwin Watts, if not I have found some cracking deals in Sports Authority on a great range of clubs, they really are great value , as for Globespan im not sure but you will probably need extra baggage coz they charge for everything like that.
p.s. it's a super wee course in forfar played it a few times

we were in Golfsmith yesterday beside the mall at millenia - unfortunately only had 30 minutes in the shop before I had to leave - could have spent hours in there - has a large practice net area for trying clubs

I have been in edwin watts on idrive before and also like it
