5 Things to Know Before Visiting Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

Some things to know before visiting Star Wars Galaxy's Edge in WDW.

1. You will not find any merchandise in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge that say "Galaxy's Edge". If you want Pins, T-Shirts, etc, that say "Galaxy's Edge" on them, then you will find these in the regular merchandise outlets in the park outside of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

2. Character Meet & Greets are different in Galaxy's Edge than the rest of the park. There are no set meet and greet locations, the characters roam through the land and interact with the guests as they pass by. The characters do usually appear in the same areas though, so If you are looking for Rey or Chewbacca keep an eye out near the Rise of the Resistance Encampment. Vi Moradi usually makes an appearance around the Black Spire Outpost but you have to be quick as she is usually running or hiding.

3. Cast members in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge stay in character and it's a good idea to learn some of the language before visiting Batuu, the local language is Batuuese.

Instead of saying "Good Day" say "Bright Suns", "Good Evening" becomes "Rising Moons". If you want to say "Goodbye then say "Till the Spire". Restrooms are known as "Refreshers" and water fountains as "Hydrators". If you are asked a question and you are unsure of the answer then just say "Only the ancients know", simply translated for "I don't know". Oh and the Dollar is called "Credits".

4. When going to ride Smugglers Run at a point just before you ride you will be given a coloured card, indicated on the card will be your position that you will take in the cockpit, it will either be Pilot, Gunner or Engineer. After you are given the card you are moved to a holding area, whilst in this holding area get to know the others in your group (they will have the same colour card as you) and if you want to try and swap/barter your cards for a different position you can.

5. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is full of hidden gems and easter eggs, for example as a nod to George Luca's Indiana Jones films you can catch a glimpse of the "Ark of the Covenant" in Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities, it's on the upper ring peeking out from behind a box.
On top of Docking Bay 7 restaurant you will find a Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport ship, the ship has 3 crates marked with the numbers 77, 80 and 83. If you are a star wars fan you may recognise these as the years the original star wars films were released. 1977 A New Hope (Star Wars), 1980 The Empire Strikes Back, 1983 Return of the Jedi.

I do think the immersive nature is going to make me feel a bit self conscious. I think I’ll screen shot this post though just so I’m ready!

For Smugglers run, they call 6 people through from the line and give each one a card, 2 people will get Pilot, 2 will get Gunner and 2 will get Engineer.

If there are less than 6 in your group you will have others join you from either the main queue or the single rider queue. The cards you get are random, but will always be 2 of each, pilot, gunner and engineer. All 6 will have the same colour card. Other groups of 6 will have a different colour set of cards.

In the holding area the cast members will call you forward by your colours then arrange your group with the pilots at the front, gunners in the middle and engineered at the rear. You are then ushered in to a small pre-show as a group of 6 before entering the cockpit.
