No, please don’t do that - DDP at ANY age is so much better than QSDP and for the character meals alone - don’t worry about children having to sit down for the meal, there is so much going on in most of the restaurants - T Rex Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Sci fi Dine in, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys - all geared up for children - and if you have a little princess you cannot miss Cinderella’s Royal Table.
Don’t even consider it in my opinion

It looks like im better off sticking with ddp even with the added expense of tips. Can anyone tell me a rough cost of tips for 2wks? I wouldnt not tip but has anyone not tipped and if so what happened? Just curious on the last part as on another forum someone left no tips and other posters called them for all sorts

With a 4 year old do the character and themed meals. Book some breakfasts and lunches so you are not tied to dinner every night.
Sci fi is fun, you eat in a car. Teppan edo is also popular with kids. rainforest cafe and/or t rex too. |

Your tip is only on the sit down meal, so 14 max. If you look at menus for where you book you can work it out. I can't see it being more than $10/$15 a meal as your child is child price. If you have alcohol then it will bump tip up a couple of dollars.
Disney receipts suggest tip of 18 or 20% and give you the figure. You can pay cash or charge to room. If service is poor just ask to speak to a manager. No one expects you to leave tip for poor service. The tip isn't compulsory for a party of two but it is the done thing to leave a tip in USA. |

Tipping is very different in the US - there is a good tipping guide on here which will explain the difference.
Tipping threads often get heated and may get closed, so it is probably helpful if you have a read of the guide and search for some threads to help you make your decision.

Did you get the gift card when you booked? If so that’ll more than likely cover tips.

Have a look at the menus for the places you may like to try, it will give the prices so you can work out what to budget for the tips. Its 18-20% for table service, no tipping needed for quick service. I'm going to be using the gift card for tips.

I was absolutely staggered when we added up how much we spent on tips for our 2 week holiday, but we're a family of 4 so your mileage will be different. We regularly forked over $40 each meal, and California Grill where we paid for 6 of us to go was $120 alone for the tips!
Saying that, I'd recommend it if it were my first or second trip. After that, I'd not pay to upgrade. I'd keep QS, book maybe 2 meals max and then use my extra credits for more breakfasts or snacks. On the brightside, Cinderella's Royal Table includes the tips if you're using credits. Yay!
