A pharmacist once told me that all the non-drowsy antihistamines do make 10% of the population drowsy, including me. So I am another person who had resorted to nasal sprays or, preferably, eye drops.

I get Fexofenadine on prescription - its one of the only hay fever tablets that doesnt make me drowsy. I was at my mum & dads last week and had forgotten to take my tablet so dad gave me a cetirizine and it knocked me for six! I came home and slept for about 3 hours.

My husband gets fexofenodine on prescription also, its the only one that works for him but even then he sometimes ends up on a course of steroids. Its definitely the best one he has tried.

I take Sainsburys certrizine and they help with symptoms but I am constantly tired. My dd takes them everyday for allergies and comes home from sixth form a goes to sleep. I didnt know they make you drowsy.

Cetirizine is supposed to be non-drowsy but it knocks me for six and I feel lousy all the next day. Loratidine suits me better. I never buy the brand names. B and M/Home Bargains/Aldi - less than 1.00 for 14 and work just as well.
