Yosemite Valley
Hi all
What time do we need to be getting into Yosemite Valley to secure a parking spot and beat the Summer traffic? We are staying at Rush Creek Lodge which is 5 minutes from the Big Oak Flat park entrance. We're going to use the shuttle system for travelling around the valley to all the sights. Thanks |

Hi would suggest you get in as early as is easy for you . How long will you be there , have you the valley floor tour booked, this is great for a little history and gets your bearings. Would suggest you do this the evening you arrive and then the next morning you will know what to do. Main sights el capitan, half dome, drive up to glacier point, tioga pass and the walk up vernal falls and back down j Muir trail

The park site says to arrive by 9am, after which car parks are often full. So personally I'd be there well before then.

hi, we are just back from our west coast/ hawaii trip and stayed at Rush Creek Lodge. We loved it...make sure you do the smores in the evening! Its about 40 mins from the hotel to the Valley Floor and I echo what you have been told, get there as early as you can..we found most carparks full by 11 and that was in June. Also expect the shuttles to be busy, you may not get on the first one that arrives especially around the Visitor Centre. But some of the further out car parks were available and made good places to sit by the river and just enjoy the peace. Hairy

Thanks guys
Going to aim to be up and out for 7am so we can guarantee a parking spot in the Valley and enjoy the park before it gets too hot later in the afternoon! Megtom8... We are so looking forward to our stay at Rush Creek Lodge, it looks fantastic. Our boys are especially looking forward to the smores. Did you eat at any of the lodge’s restaurants? It’s our eldest sons birthday while we are there and just planning our celebrations. Thanks |

We had 3 nights in Rush Creek Lodge last August it was amazing. The pool is so lovely as are the s’mores!
We loved the food, ate out on the balcony at the “restaurant” rather than “pub”. Very good quality, the portions weren’t enormous like most American meals & that was a relief. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did
