Expedia Flight + Hotel deal - very confused!

Hi all!

Just doing a bit of dummy pricing, as you do. I've put through a flight + hotel deal and I have no idea what is going on with the pricing. Every time I upgrade to Economy Classic from Economy Light with VA, the price goes up by like £800. The dummy booking is only for two people. I'm really confused as to what it's doing. Can anyone help me figure it out?

This is with Economy Light

Then I click to upgrade by £120 for Economy Classic and this happens.

Am I being dumb or is this system seriously glitching? Or is it simply one of those things where the price goes up while you're looking?

Well the first one just isn’t adding up. It seems to have forgotten to add the tax on.

There must be a glitch with the first price, £800 probably sounds about right for the upgrade. We booked instore for next May and asked how much it would be for economy classic, £1100 we got quoted, we actually got quoted a cheaper price for premium economy!

The upgrade has been added on at the advertised price of £120. The glitch is that the first quote is not adding up as it should. Flights approx. £1500, tax £700, yet total price still around £1500.

Ah that’s weird! Lucky though to get it for £120, can’t beleive what I was quoted for it!

Just taken it through to booking stage and the money came off again. Hope if anyone does this, the price doesn't put them off! It's wrong! It's like getting a Tesco meal deal and then having the money come off just before you pay!

Yes it is a very weird mistake, not one I have seen often! I don’t fly virgin, must admit I have no idea what virgin classic means or what it should cost, but anyway its does appear to be an arithmetic error.

The £120 is around about what it should be really. If you look on the VA website, there really isn't that much price difference between Light and Classic.

I did think our quote was a bit steep, the woman in the shop rang through to this other department for a quote and at 1k we declined, premium would have been £800 to upgrade!
