Weather issues in Miami.
It happens from time to time especially over the summer months when Florida experiences afternoon storms. Quite often it's the other way around in that flights are diverted away from MCO and land in MIA. Once the weather has improved the aircraft will be refuelled and sent to it's final destination. -Steve

Do you stay on the plane while all this is happening?
Funny thing is we are landing in Miami and driving to Orlando next morning. Thanks

Yes MCO Twitter had a bit of a field day yesterday as due to the bad weather in MIA they had one of those gigantic Airbus A330 land there for a few hours before it flew out to MIA when the weather improved - such a spectacle to see
Sounds like they usually keep you on the plane and then fly onwards when the weather subsides.. depending of course on length of time

Happened to me once. Captain had to have a serious word with passengers who were driving up from Miami to Orlando, they were making the stewardesses life hell because they thought they should be allowed off the plane there and save having to drive up. Of course that’s not how it works and yes you do stay on the plane, unless it’s going to be a very very long wait for the weather to clear.

That was a stroke of luck, as we were on that flight the day before.
