Getting Excited
|
We found one year that Virgin had a one day sale on July 4th. We actually went into the Virgin holiday store on Thursday last week just to compare with what we had seen online. They said they could match any package deal with any other company, and we ended up booking in the store.

I've found that there is no guarantee that any particular flight from any particular departure airport to any particular destination on a particular date in a particular cabin is necessarily in the VA sale. VA certainly don't discount all fares. The dates included in the sale are always restricted - presumably to those tickets where demand is lower than they had hoped and needs boosting. Availability also depends on whether you are going direct or indirect. They always state in their conditions that the number of seats in the offer is limited, and once sold the higher fare applies - that means they might not have enough discounted for all of you if you have a large group.
Also bear in mind that they are using 747 for MAN to MCO which I believe only have 14 upper class seats to start with. I think some people don't realise that in each cabin there are multiple fare codes - effectively different tickets ranging from a high priced flexible ticket to the cheapest with lots of restrictions. If all those available at the cheapest fare code have been sold, the price rise you see could simply be you are now being offered the next more expensive ticket with fewer restrictions - and vice versa if they subsequently release more at the cheaper code. |
