Only if you buy a standard economy fare. For basic economy, there is no checked bag allowance or choice of seat on United either (unless you qualify for one of these by airline status or disability).

Does anyone know If you book Virgin light tickets with no luggage or ability to choose seat reservation, can you ultimately choose seats at online checkin 24 hours before flight?

Virgin if we fly from Manchester but needs to be cheaper. Our other option is klm from Teesside changing in Amsterdam if it is a good price as it’s near to us.

We are flying wit Delta but I’m pretty sure a virgin was the same as they codeshare. We are on economy light and have no option to choose seats. We will take our hand luggage and pay for one bag on return.

Just split the booking , one adult and one child with bags and one adult without on two seperate bookings. It's then up to you if you gamble on seats with the third person.

We've done this with Norwegian a few times with all adults and never been separated even when the flight was full.

So I have been looking at KLM. Booking the luggage separately would save about £150.
They actually make a separate charge to select seats (it was about £8) so overall it’s looking like a good option.
Flights are only available until the start of May still though.
