Five day special holiday suggestions
I suspect this year is likely to be the last holiday we have with our 18 year old DD, so I hoped to make it extra special. Unfortunately, DH has had his annual leave allocation and only has 5 days in the summer holidays. I think that cuts out going to Florida (probably?), but I was wondering where we could go that would give her a "wow" memory of her last family holiday.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received! Thank you EC |

What about Hong Kong? Esp. as you could visit Hong Kong Disneyland. It’ll be very hot in the summer but there’s loads to do for a short break. I flew on a Monday tea time and landed back at breakfast time on the Saturday. I’d have liked longer but saw plenty in that time.

That's a really interesting idea. She loves Disney but also likes the idea of travelling somewhere a bit more exotic.
Any idea where to stay? Thank you for the suggestion, EC |

I started this thread about 18 months ago and there’s lots of useful info on Hong Kong in here - https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/sho... php?t=1047569
Public transport is excellent (and cheap) so anywhere near an MTR station will allow you to explore easily. I stayed about 30 seconds from Quarry Bay station which was about 20 minutes by MTR to Central (main connection station). There are some amazing hotels in Hong Kong so there’s definitely something for every budget. |

New York is a wonderful city for an 18 year old. We had 5 nights there a couple of years ago with our 16 year old and we all loved it. We went at the beginning of July so were there for the 4th of July fireworks which was amazing, also lots of sales in the stores for the holiday. Plus we did all the big tourist attractions etc It really was a brilliant holiday.
If you didn’t want to fly so far, then I would suggest a big European city such as Rome, Paris, Milan, Madrid or our daughter’s favourite city, Venice. |

Dubai, if not height of summer. My kids love it there.
Or New York.

I would just mention that my DS announced he wouldn't be coming on any more family holidays when he was 16/17. DD when she was 17. Both now in or through uni and still coming with us at 22 and 20 as now looking at 2020.
