That's odd really.

It's definitive, but I cannot help thinking it isn't right?

It says get a family member to apply for you between getting married and getting to the airport... Don't worry it only takes 10 minutes 😕

Not very clear given there is no such thing as immediate or in airport ESTAs now...

Personally I think travel in maiden name !

The name on your flight has to match your passport. You can't just take your marriage certificate, that won't work.

I have just looked and Virgin Atlantic will change the name on your ticket free of charge IF you have legally changed your name, ie got married, after booking. I don't know how they will view changing it the other way.

Yes I thought that, mine was a slightly tongue in cheek comment as it is confusing. I guess they have a point that even now most ESTAS go through in minutes but even with two days would you want to risk it!

The advice for other visa waiver nationals is even more confusing. It say you can use your new name and old passport number! But bring your marriage certificate.

I guess I’d print out the advice too to show the no doubt confused border agent (and airline check in staff)

Definitely best to change it back to maiden name and hope Virgin take pity on you but frankly I’d be happier paying any amendment fees.

For what it’s worth my wife travelled in her maiden name passport and we bought the marriage cert too-just in case

I'm not risking it I got virgin to change the name it cost me £35 and they did it all over online chat. I'd rather have the peace of mind that everything is in place. Thanks for your help again people it was much appreciated

Wise move, would have done exactly the same.

FWIW, I just kept my maiden name on my passport until it expired, then applied for the new one - over three years later! No issues doing this, even with everything else transferred to my married name. There's really no rush.

I still travel on a passport in my maiden name - and we were married in 1978!
