Locked iPod - Help Please

My Granddaughter has changed the password on her iPod and forgotten it!

Her Mum has spent ages trying to get into it with no success.

I know I can plug it in to my PC and hard reset it but that will lose all her music.

Is there anything else I can do please without losing her stuff? Thank you.

Isn't her music saved to the iCloud ?
It should be , in which case you won't lose it.
Hopefully Mum will know but it's usually usually set that way as default.

(I get panicked calls at work on a regular basis where passwords have got changed for various things and forgotten , she's not the first and won't be the last )

Thank you. That means nothing to me sadly! However as you say the kids will know.

I'm going up to Notts tomorrow so can bring it back with me for my Son to look at as he is very good at these type of things - if I can nail him down!

With most mobile devices now when you save as well as sitting on the device it saves to a remote server's storage (known as a cloud) it's very handy for retrieving photos when devices die or get lost or stolen too. Definitely nail son down, it should be sortable or if your daughter doesn't want to wait Apple's phone support could Talk her through it (links on the Apple.co.uk site)

(Hope that wasn't too techy but useful to know)

I need to sort something out with my Son as I had this via E Mail this week -

Hello XXX,
You have used up all of your 5 GB of free iCloud storage.
All the photos, videos and documents that are currently in iCloud will still be stored safely, but any new ones will not be saved to there. You cannot back up your iOS devices to iCloud anymore and soon you will not be able to send or receive email with your iCloud email address

To avoid this, upgrade to 50 GB.

Alternatively, you can reduce the amount of storage you are using.
Sincerely,
The iCloud Team

It was brilliant to be child free in this house, but he did have his uses!
He has invited himself to dinner tonight so will chat to him.

Oh ... most of her music will still be intact by the look of that then. I'd just get her to clear out the unwanted stuff to make room once it's sorted. You probably don't need to pay just declutter !

I have one of those - I think.

I will mention it to my Son. I have just come off Facetime with my Daughter and she has put the iPod to one side for me to bring home on Sunday.

Oh, plus the Granddaughters expired Passport so it looks like I have to get a new one of those as well as an ESTA!

Many thanks all. My Son sorted it yesterday. Had to take it back to factory setting and he had her music saved on the PC so just put it back on.
