Watched this last night - one of the best films (aside from Wonder) that I’ve seen in ages!

Wow! You went a lot deeper into it than I had! I didn’t really notice much inference to social media at all - but I do tend to watch things at a very surface level I think!

I didn’t get why some people survived being infected or what the goal was for people to become infected. I also don’t know why the kids didn’t have names. But was still good to watch.
I probably missed the point (see my post above about watching most things at surface level without thinking too much! Lol!), but my interpretation was that everyone was infected by their worst possible fear, and because it was so dreadful most people couldn’t live with it, but then there were a smalll group, of I guess psychopaths, who saw the worst but actually enjoyed it & therefore were saying how beautiful everything was and not killing themselves? Of course I could be very wrong, but it worked for me!

As for the names of the children, at the beginning she didn’t seem to want to accept she was pregnant (hence the doctor suggesting adoption) & then later on, I think she was too scared to contemplate them having a future, so didn’t want to name them as she felt that was too much of a real bond? (Like how people don’t like to name turkeys that they are eventually going to kill I guess?)

But as I say, this is just my simple take on the film - probably not as deep as I was meant to see it! Haha!

I think you've hit the nail on the head.

I found this very stressful to watch ... mainly the parts with the two young children in so much danger ... but the end was worth it all. I thought it was really very good.

We’ve just watched and also thoroughly enjoyed it - great film and it made me a bit scared of the dark

I love Sandra Bullock . I thought this was a bit boring though.
I didn’t read into it I just watched it.
I didn’t bond with any of the characters and it all felt like there was something missing from the film.

Too may things were left to the imagination, I mean how did they all survive for five years like that.
It jumped from the kids birth to five years later. What happened in between .

I really liked the film

But just wish one question has been answered... how on earth did they get up into the mountains ?

I was left wondering at the end how the community sustained itself.
