Cabana Bay - The good the Bad and Ugly...

Thank you for your responses! I feel even more excited to go now! The whole resort has appealed to me right from the beginning! I love the 50’s theme. We definitely plan to spend at least one full day enjoying the pool area and movies outside are on our DD’s must do list!

Has anyone had a standard view? I know it will just look at a parking lot but for the amount of time we’ll be in there is it worth an upgrade?! I’m on the fence!

ours was a standard view - it was over the car park, the only time I spent any time looking out the window was when we had an afternoon thunderstorm (because those are spectacular ).

I stayed in a standard room at Cabana Bay last year and absolutely loved it - I was sad we were only there for two nights and would definitely go back!

Loved Cabana Bay and gutted not to be staying there again in May but didn't fit with the plans. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Best advice don't read Trip Advisor

We loved cabana bay and would love to stay again. Staff all friendly, did not think it looked shabby, food court good, pool area clean and lifeguards amazing (we see 3 rescues in our 2 weeks there!). We stayed in a suite pool view & could see volcano bay as well. Was great location x

We stayed in Americana every time just because we prefer the lazy river to the pool slides. Even had a view of the car park once and still loved it because you could see the hulk and fireworks so either way it was a win win !

We stayed last April and loved it so much we are going back next month. We had a standard view and looked onto the car park but didn't bother us as we spent so little time in the room during the day. The kids loved the pools and dh loved the Starbucks on site so he could get his coffee and bun in the morning. There are fire pits and you can buy smokes kits at the shop. Also, would recommend buying refillable cup as it lasts all of your stay (about $19) and includes soft drinks, slushies, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
Oh, I am making myself excited! You will love it.

We’re going next month for a long weekend then staying on ID as I like being able to go for a wander on an evening and we are going DC, SW etc so all a bit nearer.
However had 1 night at Cabana Bay last year and loved it! So I was adamant I wanted to go back this year even though it cost 2x as much in April as it did in August 😱.
The boys loved the lazy river and we will be taking our very cool rings back that we bought last year. The whole vibe was very cool and relaxed. The room was spotless, vibrant and I loved the toiletries!

We stayed for the first time for two weeks last April/May. We loved everything about it. The entrance to Volcano Bay is so convenient and we liked having the resort refillable mugs. We are doing a Disney/Universal split stay this year and are of course going back to Cabana Bay for 9 nights of this. We stayed pool view in the Americana block - it doesn’t cost much to upgrade to pool view I don’t think - we think it’s worth it and hope to get a similar location this year

All these responses have helped so much! I think we’ll look at the possibility of an upgrade when we check in... the view isn’t a big deal but would be nice! I am so excited! No more reading reviews lol. The look of the resort appeals to us so much and the lazy river looks amazing! May can’t come soon enough
