It won't be that long, the bail out vote is (from memory) set for the end of this month.

If it is voted down they will file for bankruptcy straight away - they will have no choice the banks and payment companies (visa / MasterCard) are only allowing them to trade based on assurances from the acquiring venture, if this doesn't go through the card merchants will pull support and processing access straight away.

We will know by very early march

Oh god, so what will happen? Will all flights just be cancelled? And added to a creditors listing?
This isn’t good news for me: we can’t afford a honeymoon but found some Flybe flights to Paris a fortnight after our wedding, our hotel and some activities are paid for.

It's 75% likely that the bail out will go through, in which case you'll see no difference.

If it fails they will shut up shop at the end of the general meeting that the vote is rejected in. An immediate cessation of all flights and simultaneous cessation of company trading (which means no flights and refunds through credit card or travel insurance)

Hopefully it won't come to that and the buyout will be agreed

I find that grossly immoral.

So do I but I think when monarch went under there was similar talk of this happening and I think before they ceased trading officially they had to carry on regardless which if I was a customer would seriously stick in my clack! , but they surely know beforehand this is gonna happen so could show a bit of sympathy for the people who are inevitably gonna suffer

They have to keep selling until the end, as an investor may pump money in, or a buyer may be found, both last minute. If that did happen all would carry on as usual.
Not nice but it’s the same with all businesses.

Thankyou very much. I booked the flights using my first direct visa debit card.

I also at this stage don't have travel insurance, I only usually purchase it for trips outside of the EU/Australia (I'm a citizen there) unless its a cruise, and my annual policy has expired as I haven't been on such a trip since Sept-17 when I we3nt to New York.

I'm wondering if it might be worth looking into a single trip policy that covers airline cancellations.

Events like this are why you should always book your flights with a credit card.

Just as a side note, people should also always carry travel insurance for trips to Europe - the EHIC does not give full coverage. Plus we don’t know what the situation will be after 29 March.
