Mobile Taking 2 part isofix car seat

Hi everyone, has anyone taken a 2 part isofix baby seat with them to Florida? We have a Maxi Cosi pebble that uses an isofix base. I've tried my 10 month old in it today with just the seatbelt rather than isofix and she keeps putting her legs over where the lap belt hours across the seat, which doesn't seem very safe. Husband says we should take the base as well. We are doing a lot of driving whilst there so need her to be as safe as possible.

I think you can't take the isofix base for security reasons... 🤔

We just took our seat without the isofix and it was fine.

Maybe you could hire a base?

Yes, we took two seats with separate isofix bases for twin 18 month olds two years ago. No security issues but heavy! Check your baggage weight allowance. They fit the US latch system.

They fit the USA latch system the same was they fit isofix over here. Just take them in a car seat back with the seat, the airline fly car seats for free and we’ve never been asked to weigh the bag. You’ll be fine.

Yes we took our ISOFIX base with our pebble car seat. We bought a car seat bag and the base fitted in there. We took some bubble wrap and selotape with us and bubble wrapped the seat and base at the airport before we put it in the bag to give it some protection.

We have done this before no problems. ISO fix latches fit and it always better to use what you are more comfortable with.

Best advice is buy a car seat bag 2 reasons.

1 it keeps them together and less chance of being lost or separated.

2. If it’s raining when you land the seat is kept dry. I’ve seen plenty of wet seats with annoyed parents at the carousel.

These bags are readily available from amazon or eBay reasonably priced. This is what we have amazon/iSafe-Unive...22615088&psc=1

Also you can hide a few extra nappies and wipes in there.

I agree, and on our return trip last week car seat bags were full of soft toys and dirty washing!

Rather than wrapping the car seat in bubble wrap and tape, wrap it in your beach/pool towels and cling film, much cheaper and gives more room in your other cases
