I would also tell them to remember, they would never see almost everyone in the theater again if they were chosen so why be embarrassed.

My once very shy older son was chosen to join a dance at AK. He is not a father and absolutely loved joining and seeing his child laugh hysterically at the show.

I wish I could rationalise this myself but for some reason this sort of thing sends me into a state of panic. I will see what the cm says and if not guarenteed I will give it a miss and let the rest of our group go in x

I feel exactly the same and so does my dad, but he got caught by The Whos last Xmas... We stopped at the end of Seuss Landing so I could nip into the loos. I came out and The Whos had started singing carols with my mum and sisters, and because my dad didn't want to join in they surrounded him and danced around him in circles then gave him a tambourine and got him to join in! lol

As bad as the anxiety is I'd say just go with the flow, once something like that has happened just think what's the worst that could happen?!

My daughter is the same. She was once picked to join in the High School Musical (she must have been around 6 at the time). Whilst she did do it, as soon as it was over and she got back to mum and dad she burst into tears! The following day she was asked to do the Lion King show - she politely declined!

DW got chosen in the Laugh floor and DD was mortified by that - she won't go in there now and she won't go in to Crush's talk - just in case.

That is good if I get picked again I might just freeze and not move or say anything, see if they can make me laugh or have some fun with it

From what I remember of Turtle Talk with Crush, the child has to put their hand up to ask a question and join in. If they don't they aren't picked. Also, they don't appear on the screen so most people in the theatre can't see them anyway.

It's nothing like MILF where you appear on the screen and have to dance or pretend to be Mike.

Kids have to sit on the floor to be picked - if they sit on the benches with an adult they won't get picked.

When we went to Hoop Dee Doo I was horrified to find that we’d been given a table right at the very front, we could literally touch the stage!
At one point one of the actors knelt down and started singing directly at me. I just giggled a bit (and probably looked very uncomfortable!) I think if I’d have joined in more it might have escalated, they do ad lib a lot, but I think they are pretty good at reading the situation and don’t push it if they don’t think you are up for it.
