Does anyone else find rooms old fashioned?

Never stayed at Disney hotel before and liking the look of refurbished rooms at all star movies. Needs to be value hotel for us due to budget. Like the idea of a suite with kitchenette but AofA is too expensive. All star music have suites so thought I'd take a look. Omg they look like something from the 70's / 80's. I'm no snob and we caravan holiday most years but some of Disney's rooms look so old fashioned to me. I also think there isn't much choice of accommodation unless your minted. Why would music have suites but not the other all stars? Why can't hotels have a seperate bedroom. How many families of 4 adults would really want to sleep all together? (Thinking son and girlfriend with in-laws). Very little privacy. I also think a microwave should be standard in any room. I think holiday accommodation in general needs modernising or is it just me?

Cannot disagree with some of your comments, but as long as Disney can fill the Hotels, they wont change to any large degree. Its a business - why would they?

There are other options off site. Many families choose to stay in a villa to address some-of your issues

I do agree that the rooms are old fashioned and quite dark, but for us the perks of staying onsite outweighs the problems. We find the rooms are a good size and the beds are very comfortable, plus the rooms are clean. That’s all we really need as we don’t spend much time in the rooms anyway.

We have stayed in much nicer and fancier rooms in other hotels around the world, but it’s the compromise we are happy to make to stay onsite.

I agree. I just find it strange that Disney invest do heavily in parks and theming and the latest technology but some of their rooms seem stuck in a time warp. In contrast the suites at Universals Cabana Bay are much more modern (newer i know)

Disney hotels are terrible accommodation wise, I expected to be blown away but was very disappointed!

I do sort of agree with you. We have only stayed onsite once so far at CBR and my dh wasn’t sure at first. But although they weren’t the most stunning, modern rooms we have stayed in we really enjoyed our stay and they were very comfortable.
We are staying next year at POFQ and really looking forward to it. I do think that if I was ever to stay in GF I would be very disappointed in the rooms after paying so much. ( I know it’s all about the location)

Sad to say but the so called Disney Imagineers who are brilliant at theming the Parks are useless at designing rooms that are durable and modern

Saying that I think they are starting to smell the coffee, for example CSR rooms are stunning. Well done to them, sadly 20 years too late.

A lot of Americans still love French Baroque. Yuk.

People don’t spend money when they are in their hotel rooms. Why would Disney encourage you to sit and relax in the comfort of your room ?

I expected alot more Disney theming in disney rooms. To me thats a big part of staying on site. Once through the door though you could be in any hotel anywhere in orlando. Agree you stay there for the other perks but it really isn't what i expected. Travelodges are nicer!

Isn’t it a deliberate choice by Disney to keep the value hotels looking a bit cheap, though?
