Linda.
Circa £22 per post
Circa £18 per gravel board slightly more if rock faced.
Circa £60 per panel
Circa £6.50p per bag for Postcrete. One bag per post
Skip? If so then £175 or more.

So a bit of maths and his labour charge will pop up.

Lynda I’m in the northwest and just had my side redone. My go to handyman said pay no more than £100 per panel for posts, concrete base and fence panel. He gave me a couple of numbers and both came and quoted me. I went with the one that Gary told me was the best. £750 for 8 panels. They did it in a morning and it looks great

We’ve just had 18 posts , 17 gravel boards and 17 6ft panel in double palisade for £1650. The panels were £40 each so we think we got a bargain if I’m honest .

I have a friend who does high quality fencing and he charges £65 / metre all in.

Not sure if this fence is 'yours' or a 'shared responsibility', if the later, I would suggest your neighbours are trying to get the job done and your half will cover all or most of the cost - trying to rip you off, or possibly getting a backhander for the work?

Get a couple more quotes from reputable local fencing companies / contractors before making any decision.

Linda,
We had extensive fencing around our garden last year but that cost would be difficult to compare against your quote. We also had a smaller job out the front which was 3 feet tall (half yours) and probably a bit longer in length and that was £450. So like others I would say get a few quotes - it does look a bit expensive to me.

Hi Mexy,

Would you mind telling me where that was from as I think you’re in the same area as me?

This is the quote - for 6 panels. Does it seem a fair price ? (Seems a bit much to me )

Thanks as always

Linda

Think that’s pricey for 6 panels

It does seem quite a lot for 6 panels. A little different, but me and my husband re-fenced our entire garden, both sides, last summer.
We did feather edge overlap and built the fencing ourselves, but for a dozen new 8ft posts, 20 6ft rails, 24 bags of concrete post mix and 160 feather edge boards it cost us £360.
That covered the equivalent of 12 fence panels.

thanks everyone, very helpful. Another company has been recommended now so I’ll get a quote from them. There’s no hurry as I don’t want it done while we’re in lockdown. 🙄
