Does it need all the posts and gravel boards replacing? If its wind damage, surely you just need new panels?

I’d be interested to hear what other prices you get. We aren’t far from you and are looking to replace our fence. We currently have 6 10ft long by 6ft high panels but are looking to get the ones with concrete posts and gravel boards that you slot the panels into. I feel that will be easier to maintain/repair in the long run. We had someone out to replace a post a few weeks ago and now another is rotten. I don’t like the repair they did so I don’t want to use the same company again.

All those thinking of concrete posts where you just slide the posts down into them beware of 2 things

1. They can get stolen! If they aren't clipped in and the wrong person spots them they can remove the lot in 10 mins flat

2. If not clipped in they rattle in the wind and the noise will drive you nuts!

Thanks Tom. Worthy of note!

Re (2), that’s helpful Mr Tom, I didn’t know they could be clipped in. I’ll make sure that gets done.

Our houses are “link-detached”, so the only way to get to the back is through the garage. Plus all my neighbours seem to have in-built radar and can ‘detect’ anything odd 24/7. They tell me what’s going on down our road, I never know !

The current fence has wooden posts and no gravel boards. One post has snapped right near the base so can’t be fixed.

I’ll send you details once I’ve got another quote.

I work for an independent timber merchants as a rough guide for your closeboard panels concrete slotted posts and concrete gravel boards it would be £400.00 for your materials , in case that's of any help to you.
