Stuck in Tenerife - Sand Storm !
Hi
Just wondered if anyone can help. Currently in Tenerife and due to fly back tomorrow night. Not looking likely with the bad sand storm grounding flights. We booked Ryan Air flights and hotel through Love Holidays. What happens if we get to the airport and they cancelled the flight? Any advice is great. Thanks Jane |

No answer but sympathise. We are in Fuerteventura. Due to storm Dennis our flight last weekend was cancelled and eventually arrive on Tuesday after getting special leave from work - I work in a school office. Now wondering what will happen if we can’t get back on Tuesday.

Ryanair are responsible for looking after you, regardless of who you booked through. I don't think you're eligible for compensation under the EU regs as this has been caused by weather, but I think they should have to provide food/drink or hotel if you're delayed overnight.

Seen this- we would have usually been flying back from the Canaries today, have been every year for 9 years, but due to daughter's GCSEs we are missing it this year.
Hope you get back OK. Ryainair are meant to look after you- but you know what they are like. Zero chance of compensation I am afraid.

There is a note on Ryanair’s website now about the disruption. Says check before heading to the airport, we have transfers book. Are we better at the airport to get rebooked into a new flight. Don’t fancy saying at accommodation!

We flew back into Manchester today with EasyJet, flight was only about 15 minutes late taking off & we landed on time.
The only flights we noticed had been cancelled was a few Norwegian one’s, I noticed Ryanair, Tui & EasyJet all left okay. It was very windy this morning when we left our hotel & just a bit hazy although you could tell the air quality wasn’t great. Anyway, fingers crossed for you getting back okay like us today. Cheers Les

To be fair Les things have got quite a lot worse since this morning
We went out for a very breezy walk along the front this am - it was quite busy but tonight an eerie quiet and half of those on the streets wearing wuhan style face masks Think all flights bar Norwegian were ok for this morning but just about every flight out this evening cancelled

We were stranded in Tenerife a few years ago due to Snow. We made the mistake of checking out of the hotel and driving ourselves to the airport (as well had hired a car) rather than waiting for the transfer we had pre-booked. We were put up in a very cheap hotel which was awful. We realised afterwards that if we had stayed at our original hotel and waited for the transfer, we would have been left in our own hotel for the duration of the delay. Stay put if you can and let the tour operator sort everything out for you.

Fair comment buryboy just been looking & it seems we did well to get home at all today.
Hopefully conditions improve overnight & you all get home on time, safe & sound.
