Free or low costing beginner online/video photography courses

Hey everyone,

As the title says, i'm looking at beginner photography courses for myself to learn as a hobby.
I have the Esddi Lightning Kit coming to me & i'm hoping to learn a bit about portrait photography so i can get some nice images of my kids. Play around taking photos of them etc.

I also have a tripod & camera bag on its way. All my pressies from Christmas

Any in particular that stands out?

Thanks,
Melissa

I have a DSLR Canon 600d with a couple of extra lens.
I’m only starting out so don’t have the most expensive camera on the market lol.

If you are starting out you dont need an expensive camera to learn the basics. I would suggest you try and understand the basics of shutter speed and aperture and why they are important.

Let me see if I can find some youtube examples but be patient please

Ok so the trouble with finding training material for someone else is I wont know what style suits you.

In my opinion if you want to be able to use your camera to best effect you need to understand the relationship between various items such as lens aperture, shutter speed and ISO (sensor speed)

So have a look at this..

If you want to do portrait photography you really need to get your head around what the effect of changing the aperture (of the lens) is.

Good luck !

This is a good free course (a year long course) that covers all the basics and more via email. You can also join her facebook group if you wish. She has two workbooks too that you can purchase if you wish which has more info than the emails. She also has an app which i believe is about £5- a year if you want to share with others on the course but don't like using facebook.

However i'm pretty sure she only covers natural light not flash etc.

YouTube will teach you everything you need to know, literally hundreds of videos and you’ll also find some specific to your camera model/ type. Just start searching on YouTube- no need to pay for this nowadays.
