They've been crazy for Xmas bookings for a couple of weeks. I finally bit the bullet and secured 31 days in a Group S SUV from Avis for £990. Only company I could find under £1300 and that included using the best codes available from Hertz.

Mike. As Mick says there are cheaper ones out there. Auto Europe is £345 and a Max free upgrade.

I lay money you can get cheaper than that as well.

I have been following Alamo prices since the shut down began watching for cheap prices for September when I was hoping to sneak in a last minute trip if things changed for the better. Alamo's prices have been crazy for weeks now so I don't believe that its anything to do with Hertz. I think that its more to do with them not wanting people to book cars and then have to go through the admin and upheaval of having to do many refunds which they do not make any money on.

A bit like you I've been looking at the Visitor Toll Pass web site weekly to see if I could make a good news post on here. Sadly still suspended although to be honest I'm not really on top of interstate flights status.

Mick

PS Live arrivals/departures suggests there should be enough people hiring cars. Wonder why VTP is down

Ha ha. Actually there are a few websites with prices like that. Basically it means they don't want to advertise their rentals for that period.

You see the same with some Amazon 3rd party sellers. Roll of packing tape £99
